Anderson, Alice Connors, 95, of St. Petersburg, FL died Wednesday Jan. 8, 2003 at home. Born in Farmersburg, Iowa, she moved to St. Petersburg in 1974 from Hinsdale, Illinois. She was the daughter of the late John Francis Connors and Helen Theresa Riley Connors. She graduated from South High in Minneapolis, Minnesota and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work from the University of Minnesota in 1931. Throughout her adult life Alice was involved in social work. She worked for the Minneapolis, Minnesota Family Welfare; the Family Welfare Association in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; as a Red Cross Volunteer in Fargo, North Dakota; in Des Moines, Iowa at the Iowa Mental Health Service working with problem children and Polk County Iowa Public Welfare. She was an active volunteer at the Family Welfare Assoc. in Akron, Ohio and at Planned Parenthood as secretary of the Westchester County branch in New York. She supervised foster homes for Illinois Lutheran Welfare and later became a medical social worker at Suburban Cook County Tuberculosis Association. She was a member of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club, the Alumni Association of the University of Minnesota, American Association of University Women, PEO and Infant Welfare. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her five sisters: Mary Katherine Snee, Ellen Adelaide Anderson, Edith Winnefred Vale, Catherine Agnes Dunn, Gertrude Elizabeth Connors; and a brother, John Francis Connors. Survivors include her husband of sixty two years, Albeon Gaius, Sr.; a son, Albeon Gaius, Jr., and his wife, Mary Ruth of Rocky Mount, NC, his sons, Albeon Griffin Anderson of Wilmington, NC and Michael Taggert Anderson, his wife, Molly Anderson and their daughter Logan Olivia Anderson of Riverside, IL; and a son, Michael John, his wife, Barbara Zell Anderson, and their children, Michael Graham Anderson and Laura Connor Anderson all of Raleigh, NC. Anderson-McQueen Funeral Homes & Cremation Tribute Center-Ninth Street Chapel.
