Maring, Richard N., 78, of St. Petersburg died Friday, May 09, 2003 at home under the care of Hospice. A St. Petersburg native, he was born on July 16, 1924 at Faith Hospital; which is St. Anthony?s Hospital today. He graduated from St. Petersburg High School in 1943. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army Air Corp. After the war he attended the University of Florida at Gainesville, Florida where he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. He was a charter member of the ST. Petersburg Sertoma Club, a member of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club and the Over the Hill Gang. He was the owner and President of Pinellas Machine and Welding Company, which had been a family business in St. Petersburg since 1915. During the teacher strike of 1963, he volunteered at Bay Point Jr. High School where he taught Mechanical Drawing. He attended the Northeast Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dorothy, two daughters, Virginia Hollister of Bradenton; and Linda Case of Lighthouse Point, FL; a son, Richard Maring of St. Petersburg, a granddaughter Kelly Krueger of Myakka City; a grandson, C.S. Case of Lighthouse Point, FL; and a sister Frances Dorman of Hayesville, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Hospice of the Florida Suncoast, 300 East Bay Drive, Largo, FL 34640-3770.
