Martin, Clyde Walter, 75, of St. Petersburg, died Wednesday May 28, 2003 at Bayfront Medical Center, St. Petersburg. A native and lifelong resident of St. Petersburg, he attended Webb Prep School, was a graduate of St. Pete High School in 1946, St. Petersburg Junior College, and Emory University. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps as a PFC. He retired as a Senior District Representative with Florida Power Corporation after 45 years of service. He was actively employed as an Associate of Wedding, Stephenson, Ibarguen Architects, Inc. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, a Boy Scout and Cub Leader, member of the downtown Rotary Club, a former member of the St. Pete Yacht Club, and a devoted member of AA. He was an avid scuba diver, fisherman and hunter. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Shirlee; two daughters: Frances Elizabeth Deering, Greensboro, NC; and Lori Jean Hendry, St. Petersburg; two sons: William Lawrence, St. Petersburg; and Clyde Walter, Jr., Avondale, PA; two sisters: Patricia Caswell McLaughlin, Lake Placid, FL; and Nita Scartz, Roswell, GA; one brother, Dr. Charles P. Martin, St. Petersburg; five grandsons: Thomas Hendry, II, Tyler Martin Hendry, Michael Charles Hendry, and Preston Martin, all of St. Petersburg; and William Bowen, NC; three granddaughters: Jessica Martin Webber, Rebecca Rennert, and Elizabeth Morefield; three great granddaughters: Ophelia Martin Webber, Helena Martin Webber; and LaVinia Martin Webber; sisters-in-law: Helyn Moore and Victoria Martin; sons-in-law: John Holloway and Thomas Hendry. Those who wish may make memorial contributions in his name to First United Methodist Church. Anderson-McQueen Funeral Homes & Cremation Tribute Center-Ninth Street Chapel.
