The Reverend Ray K. Hallin
October 11th, 1911 - June 21st, 2003
Hallin, The Rev. Ray K., 91, of St. Petersburg, Fla. died Saturday June 21, 2003 at St. Anthony?s Hospital. Born in New York City, he came here from Niagara Falls, New York. He retired as Pastor Emeritus in 1975 after serving for 34 years at the Bacon Memorial Presbyterian Church in Niagara Falls. He graduated from Alma College, Alma, MI; attended Auburn Theological Seminary in Auburn, NY and graduated from Union Theological Seminary in New York City in 1941. He was active in the Presbytery of Western New York, serving as Moderator, chairman of several committees and served three terms as Director of the Presbyterian Homes of Western New York. He served two terms on the Board of Directors of the Auburn Theological Seminary. In Niagara Falls he was chairman of many committees, a member of the ?God Squad? Chaplaincy of the Niagara County Jail and served a five year term on the Niagara Falls Board of Education at a time when the integration ? busing program was set up. In St. Petersburg, Fla. he attended Maximo Presbyterian Church. For years he wrote articles for the ?Island Sun?, an Isla del Sol paper. He is survived by his wife, Ruth, of 67 years; two sons, Richard R. Hallin of St. Petersburg FL, and Edward R. Hallin of Scottville, MI; a daughter, Kathleen A. Headley of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada; five granddaughters, and four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Visitation from 12 ? 1 pm on Friday, June 27, 2003 at Harold W. Vick Funeral Home, 140 S. Main St., Mt. Clemens, MI. A service will follow at 1pm and burial will be in Clinton Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bacon Memorial Presbyterian Church, 166 59th St., Niagara Falls, NY 14304 or to Eckerd College Memorial Scholarship Fund for the Rev. Ray K. Hallin, Eckerd College, 4200 54th Ave. South, St. Petersburg, FL 33711.
