June 23rd, 1911 - August 1st, 2003
Walsingham, Ophelia, 92, of Largo, died Friday August 1, 2003 under Hospice care. She moved to Largo in 1925 from her native Birmingham, Alabama. She spent 41 years teaching in the Pinellas County area serving at Largo High, SPJC?s St. Petersburg and Clearwater campuses. She was a member of Magnolia Chapel of OES, Largo and DAR Clearwater Chapter. She is survived by three sisters, Ruth Tipton of Selma, Alabama, Mae G. Adair of Homosassa and Bettye Reed of Tampa; a brother, Jack T. Gates of Largo; a daughter-in-law, Sheryl Walsingham of Largo; two grandchildren, LauraLee Turpin of St. Petersburg and Bryan Walsingham of Los Angeles, CA and a great-granddaughter, Amy Turpin of St. Petersburg. She is preceded in death by husband, Carl Bryan Walsingham in 1974 and son Carl Bryan Jr., in 2001. Friends may call Wed., Aug. 6th at 2:00 PM until service time at 3:00 PM at Anderson-McQueen Funeral Home, 716 Seminole Blvd., Largo. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to the United Methodist Children?s Home, 51 Main St., Enterprise, FL 32725.
