Street, Thomas J. ?Jack?, Sr., 80, of St. Petersburg, Florida, formerly of Crystal River, died Thursday September 4, 2003 at The Health & Rehab. Center at Dolphins? View. Born in Lakeland, Florida, he moved to Crystal River in 1974 from Fort Ord, California and moved from Crystal River to St. Petersburg in 1998. He began his military career as a Marine in the 1st Marine Division in WWII, seeing action at Guadalcanal. He was discharged in 1946 and received his Geology Degree at Emory University in 1950. He enlisted in the Army and retired as a Full Colonel after 22 years of service. During his military career he received an additional degree in Civil Engineering from the Missouri School of Mines and Metalurgy in Rolla, Missouri. In addition, his career included building a Defense Early Warning System site in Greenland four Intercontinental Ballistic Missile sites in Arkansas and was Chief of Construction for the Panama Canal Company and Post Engineer at Fort Ord, California. Mr. Street also saw action in Vietnam. After retirement from the military he accepted challenging engineering assignments in Saudi Arabia and Greece. He was an avid golfer, fisherman and reader. He was a member of Seven Rivers Golf and Country Club in Crystal River and an active member of the Lions Club in Crystal River. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Regina C.; two sons, Arthur J. Street of St. Petersburg and Thomas J. Street, Jr. of Brookeville, Maryland; daughter, Regina A. Falco of Manassas, Virginia; brother, James Nash and sister, Nada McDowell both of Covington, Georgia; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Friends may call Sunday, September 7, 2003 from 2:00 ? 3:00 p.m. at Anderson-McQueen Funeral Homes & Cremation Tribute Center-Bobbitt Chapel, 7820 ? 38th Avenue North, St. Petersburg, Florida, where a funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1101 N. Lake Destiny Rd. #415, Maitland, FL 32751 or The Hospice of the Florida Suncoast, 300 East Bay Drive, Largo, FL 33770.
