Maxey, Alice L., 92, of St. Petersburg died Friday September 19, 2003 at home. Born in Atlanta, GA she came to Florida as a child with her parents and 10 siblings. She grew up in Turkey Creek, FL and moved to St. Petersburg in 1957. She was a 1931 graduate of Plant City High School and then attended Nazareth School of Nursing at Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington, KY., graduating in 1941. She then enlisted in the Army and was a 2nd Lt where she served overseas on all war theaters during WWII in the Corp of Nurses ACN. She then moved to San Francisco and was a nurse at the VA Hospital. She moved here in 1957 and worked at Bay Pines Hospital until her retirement in 1973. She was on the very first Plant City Strawberry Festival Queen?s Court. She enjoyed traveling and reading. Survivors include two sisters, Grace Lupo of Plant City and Bertha Courtney of St. Petersburg; 6 nieces and nephews; 15 great nieces and nephews; 7 great-great nieces and nephews and 1 great-great-great niece.
