William A. Stinson
January 18th, 1933 - November 30th, 2003
Stinson, William A., ?Bill?, 70, of Pinellas Park, died Sunday, November 30th, 2003 at St. Anthony?s Hospital. He came here in 1936 from his native Chicago, IL and retired as Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy after 31 years of service, which included the Korean and Viet Nam Wars. During that time, he also taught Electrical Engineering at the Annapolis Naval Academy. He was a 1950 graduate of St. Petersburg High School, and a 1962 graduate of Purdue University, where he earned Masters Degrees in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. He also earned a degree in Nuclear Engineering at the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, CA. He was a member of the High Noon Optimist Club in St. Petersburg where he served as President three times and had the distinction of being named Honor President. He was also a former member of the Retired Officers? Club. He was Catholic. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Rita J.; 2 daughters, Tamara Brown of Cape Coral, FL and Kimberlee Godwin of Melbourne, FL; 2 sons, William of Melbourne and Joseph of Virginia Beach, VA; 1 brother, James A. of Tampa; 12 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
