John E. Meyer

Meyer, John E. Dr., 81, of St. Petersburg, Florida, died Tuesday April 27, 2004 at Edward White Hospital. He moved here in 1945 from his native hometown of Delphos, Ohio. He operated his private practice in St. Petersburg until retirement in December 31, 1988. He received his education from the former St. Petersburg Junior College, The University of Tampa, FL The University of Miami School of Medicine, FL and did his postgraduate training, internship, at the former Mound Park Hospital now Bayfront Medical Center, St. Petersburg, FL. He was an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of South Florida School of Medicine and received the highest honors for original medical research from the University of Miami School of Medicine. He was medical director of Community Clinic, St. Anthony?s Hospital, member of the Executive Committee at Edward White Hospital, Chairman of Pharmacy and Therapeutic Committee at Edward White Hospital and Senior Medical Volunteer at the St. Petersburg Free Clinic. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Leona Jessup Meyer; daughter, Marie Meyer of St. Petersburg; two sons, John Meyer, Jr. and wife Carole, of Charlotte, North Carolina and Stephen Meyer and wife Debra of Tallahassee, Florida; grandsons; Richard Meyer and wife Stacy of St. Petersburg, Jason Meyer of Orlando and Joey Meyer of Tallahassee; granddaughters, Suzanne and husband Juan Flores of Salt Lake City, Utah, Christine and husband Michael Bouffard of St. Petersburg, Lisa and husband Jason Kniestedt of Charlotte, North Carolina and Elizabeth Kennedy and husband Peter Hudson of Oakland, California and eight great-grandchildren, Jazmine, Ashley, Sage and Jade Packer of Salt Lake City, Richard and Heather Meyer, Olivia and August Bouffard of St. Petersburg.
