I shall pass through this world but once. Any good therefore that I can do or any kindness that I can show to any human being, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again. William L. Ward 83 of Palm Springs died Sunday, October 21, 2007 after a short illness. Born in Jersey City, NJ, William came to Florida in 1955 from Brooklyn, NY where he retired from A&P Grocery after 25 years of service. He was a veteran of WW II, serving in the 81st Chem. Mortar Battalion and participated in D-Day in Normandy for which he was honored with 2 Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. He was a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans Post 42, West Palm Beach, Military Order of the Purple Heart, Chapter 717, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 3588 Lake Worth, Knights of Columbus, Council 2075 West Palm Beach, Society of St. Vincent de Paul, and was a founding member of St. Juliana Catholic Church, West Palm Beach. William also donated his time as a volunteer at the VA Medical Center for 18 years. William will be missed by his Loving daughter Veronica Sue Daws of Palm Springs, loving grandchildren Jeremy and Chelsea Daws of Palm Springs, a sister Catherine Wilson of NY, nephews Kevin Wilson of SC, Ken Wilson of SC, and Bill Wilson of NY. He was preceded in death by his wife Claire E. Ward and a nephew Cliff Wilson.The family will receive friends from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. on Friday, October 26, 2007 at Quattlebaum Funeral Home, 1201 South Olive Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33401 with a Scripture Service at 7:30 P.M. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 9:30 A.M. on Saturday, October 27, 2007 at St. Juliana Catholic Church, 4500 South Dixie Highway West Palm Beach, Florida 33405. Interment will take place at Our Lady Queen of Peace Cemetery at a later date.There will also be a Memorial service at the VA Medical Center Chapel on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at Noon. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Disabled American Veterans, Post 42, 7305 N. Military Trail, West Palm Beach, FL 33410.
