Roewe, Charles H, 87, of Largo, died Tuesday, September 7th, 2004 at Wright?s Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in East St. Louis, IL and came here in 1979 from Belleville, IL where he was a life insurance salesman for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for 33 years. He graduated from Central Catholic High School, East St. Louis in 1935. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard for five years during World War II. Locally, he was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church in Largo. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and traveling, but he was always happiest when he was with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Agnes, nee Horneffer, Roewe; his first wife Dorothy, nee Savin, Roewe, who died in 1982; his second wife, Mary, nee Taylor, Van Kirk Roewe, who died December 15, 2000; a brother, Joseph Roewe; and a sister, Rita Roewe. He is survived by 1 son, Stephen C. Roewe of Largo; 1 brother, Bill Roewe of O?Fallon, IL; 2 sisters, Marylou Williams of O?Fallon, IL and Evelyn Shank of Belleville, IL; 2 granddaughters and 4 great grandchildren.
