Wallace Guy Abell
August 16th, 1932 - February 21st, 2005
Abell, Wallace Guy ?Wally?, 72, of St. Petersburg, died Monday February 21, 2005 at home. He was born in Bristol, Tennessee, and moved to St. Petersburg 1945. He graduated from St. Petersburg High School in 1951 and from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1955. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving as a Captain in the Chemical Corps during the Berlin Crisis. He retired from Florida Power Corporation in 1994. He was a member and elder of Northeast Presbyterian Church; past president of the St. Petersburg Rotary Club; past president of the St. Petersburg Suncoasters; served on the Board of Directors of Home Federal Savings & Loan and Barnett Bank; served on the City of St. Petersburg Police Pension Board and on the board of the local Selective Service System; co-chairman of Community Alliance; member of the Committee of 100 of Pinellas County; committee chairman of the Greater Area St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce; served on the Visiting Nurses Association Board; member of the Southeastern Electric Exchange and the Edison Electric Institute; member of the St. Petersburg Sales & Marketing Executives Club; and former member of Lakewood Country Club, St. Petersburg Yacht Club and The Vinoy Club. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Beverly Bennett Abell; two sons, Randy Abell of Sarasota and Guy Abell of St. Petersburg; one daughter, Marcie Biddison of St. Petersburg; a brother, Chick Ludwig of Havelock, North Carolina; and three granddaughters, Whitlee, Caylee and Natalee Biddison, and one grandson, C.J.
