She was born in St. Louis, Missouri and raised in West Palm Beach. Susan graduated from Cardinal Newman High School in 1985 and Florida Atlantic University with a degree in Education. A talented and highly respected member of the faculty of U. B. Kinsey Palmview Elementary School of the Arts for ten years, She worked as both a second grade teacher and reading specialist. Susan took a hiatus from teaching when her children were born and truly relished being a stay-at-home mom. In recent years she returned to the workforce to work in the real estate business and for the law firm of Schuler, Halvorson and Weisser. Susan loved to travel, enjoyed going to the beach, and spending time with her family and many friends.She is survived by her loving husband of 14 years, Michael; daughter, Katrina and son, Joseph; mother, Mary Coates; sister, Mary Rose Coates; and brother, Tony Coates; in-laws Frank and Mary Ann Bonevento; and brother-in-law Jeffrey Bonevento. She will be greatly missed by her extended family and many close friends.Friends may visit with the family between the hours of 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Sunday, December 13, at QUATTLEBAUM FUNERAL HOME, 1201 South Olive Avenue, West Palm Beach, with a Wake Service to be held at 5:30 PM. The Mass of the Resurrections will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 14, at St. Ann Catholic Church, West Palm Beach. Interment will take place at Our Lady Queen of Peace Cemetery, Royal Palm Beach, FL. Susan received excellent care from the Palm Beach Cancer Institute and so the family would request that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Palm Beach Cancer Institute Foundation, 1411 N. Flagler Drive, Suite 8900B, West Palm Beach, Fl, 33401.
