Dr. Norman I. Pfeifer

Dr. Norman I. Pfeifer, resident of Springfield, Missouri, went to his Heavenly Home to be with the Lord on November 24, 2015 at the age of 76. Born in Alva, Oklahoma, he was the son of Joseph Paul Pfeifer and Ethel Alma Phillips Pfeifer of Great Bend, KS. He was a graduate of Great Bend High School, Kansas State University, and UMKC School of Dentistry, as well as a 5-time graduate of the L.D. Pankey Institute of Post Graduate Dental Education (formerly in Miami.) He was also the recipient of a Lee Pharmaceuticals Award of Excellence for developing what was, at the time, a new technique involving the camouflaging of orthodontic bands. He was one of the leaders of the Mid-America Dysfunctional Study Club (TMJ) for 6 years, and was inducted into the American Academy of Head, Neck, Facial Pain & TMJ Orthopedics in 1989. His practice began in Overland Park, KS with the last 20+ years spent in Springfield, MO before retiring after 50 years devoted to dentistry.He enjoyed a life-long hobby designing, building, and flying radio-controlled aircraft, was active with the Academy of Model Aeronautics for many years, and had several articles featuring his airplane designs published in their worldwide magazine.He is survived by his wife of over 38 years, Sandra Elaine Fortenberry Pfeifer of Lacombe, Louisiana and three sons, Jeff Pfeifer of Yuma, Arizona; Craig McGinty of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Chuck McGinty of Colorado Springs, Colorado and two grandsons also of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Cramer and Casey McGinty.Arrangements for burial at the Cleveland Cemetery in Kansas will be made at a later date.The family asks that any memorial you may want to make in his name be made to the charity of your choice.Funeral Home:The Springs Funeral Services3115 East Platte AvenueColorado Springs, , COUS 80909
