Justin James Albaugh
March 9th, 1925 - May 21st, 2005
Albaugh, Justin James, 80, of St. Petersburg, died Saturday, May 21, 2005at Pinellas Point Nursing and Rehab Center, after a long illness. Born in Grand Rapids, MI he moved here in 1948 from Greenville, MI. He graduated from high school in Greenville, MI in 1943. He served in the US Army in WWII in England, France, Belgium and Germany. While in Belgium, he participated in the Battle of the Bulge in 1944 and was among the first American soldiers to enter and occupy Berlin. He left the Army in 1946 with the rank of Sergeant. He graduated from Stetson University Law School with a Law Degree in 1949 in Deland, FL. He returned to St. Petersburg and set up his law practice. At the time of the Korean War, he was commissioned as a First Lieutenant in the Army Judge Advocate General?s Corps and served as an Assistant Judge Advocate General in Stuttgart, Germany. After the Korean War he returned to St. Petersburg and his law practice for a total of 39 years. He was a member of the Florida Bar and served on the Pinellas County School Board from 1954 until 1958. He enjoyed traveling, discussing politics and studing history. He also loved animals and was a life member of the SPCA in Pinellas County, and the Friends of Strays. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Nora Kemp Albaugh, St. Petersburg, a sister, Virginia Albaugh, Tampa. Additional survivors include, a sister-in-law, Christine Kemp, Kissimmee, FL, 3 nieces, Pamela Albaugh Weaver and husband, James, Silver Spring, MD, Sharman Albaugh Boyle and husband Michael, Chevy Chase, MD and Karen Kemp Brush, Kissimmee, FL, 3 nephews, Bruce R. Albaugh and wife Melissa, Silver Spring MD, Christofer Kemp and wife Maureen, Deland, FL, and Marten Kemp, Kissimmee, FL. He is also survived by 11 grandnephews and 1 grandniece. If desired, in lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to S.P.C.A. of Pinellas County, Inc., 9099-130th Ave. N., Largo, FL 33773-1441, Friends of Strays, Inc., P.O.
