September 25th, 1954 - November 5th, 2005
Finch, Stephen Ray ?Steve,? 51, of Parrish, FL and formerly of St. Petersburg, died Saturday November 5, 2005 at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton. Born at Mac Dill Air Force Base in Tampa, he came to St. Petersburg in 1963 and went to Northward Elementary. He moved to Treasure Island in 1963 and attended Gulf Beaches Elementary, Madeira Middle and was a 1972 Graduate of Boca Ciega High School and attended St. Pete Junior College. He owned and operated Stephen & Company, a hair salon, on 1st Ave. N. and 50th St. N. and also another salon on Central. He had worked for Elizabeth Arden in New York City as a hair stylist for a year and he had styled Myrna Loy?s hair for the Dinner Theatre Production in St. Petersburg. His passion was preservation of St. Petersburg Historic Landmarks and Bungalows. He successfully completed a playground project on 7th St. and 6th Ave. N. which opened in April of 2000 called the ?Millinneum Youth Playground.? He also restored a 100 year old building on Main St. in Franklin, NC. Survivors include his parents, Emerson and Jane Finch of Parrish, FL; three bothers: Michael Finch, Venice, FL; BradLee Finch, Franklin, NC; and Greg Finch, Clearwater.
