Irwin, Ian F., 55, of St. Petersburg, died Thursday, January 19, 2006, at St. Anthony?s Hospital. Born in St. Andrews, New Brunswick, Canada, he moved to St. Petersburg in 1972. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Louisiana State University in 1972, where he was a member of the LSU golf team. He then received his Masters in Business Administration from the University of South Florida in 1976. He founded and served as Chairman of several companies, which included Irwin Contracting, a major commercial contracting firm in the Tampa Bay and Central Florida; and The Southeast Companies, developer of The Vinoy Place in St. Petersburg, The Alagon on Bayshore in Tampa, The Marriott Courtyard and Residence Inn of Daytona and numerous other development projects. Due to his financial expertise and astute investment strategies, Mr. Irwin was an active board member of Synovus Bank of Tampa Bay, United Insurance Holdings and United Property and Casualty Insurance Companies, U.S. Tel, SUNZ Insurance Company, Directed Capital Resources, LLC, and Revenue Assurance Holdings, LLC. Committed to his community, Mr. Irwin has been an active member of the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce, The Urban Solutions committee, the Bay Plaza Task Force and a fundraising member for the Baryshnikov Foundation Arts Center in New York City. He was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church. He was a member of the Vinoy Club, the Polywogs, the Museum of Fine Arts, and the Lake Toxaway Country Club in North Carolina. He was an avid golfer and traveller, having played golf in Peeble Beach, Scotland, and North Carolina, as well as playing golf with Mikhail Baryshnikov. Survivors include his wife, Jean Getting Irwin; son, Ian Neil Irwin, Ozona, FL; three daughters; Lindy Marie, Katherine Anne and Jillian Christine Irwin, all of Plano, TX; three step-sons: John Paul Getting and Christopher Storrs Wedding, both of St. Petersburg, and Michael Reid Wedding and his wife Jennifer of Gainesville, FL; his mother, G. Isabel Irwin and two sisters, Maxine I. Bearisto and Carol J. Molloy, all of Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada; and a brother, Innes Henry Irwin, St. Petersburg.
