Lindquist, Dorothy Waxler, 88, of St. Petersburg, died Thursday, January 26, 2006, at home with Hospice from complications of Parkinson?s. She was born in Port Arthur, Texas, and then moved to Illinois. She was a pilot and liked to play golf, bridge and go on cruises. She was engaged to be married to Elmer Hassen, Wilmette, IL when his plane crashed in 1960. She was business manager for his Ford Dealership in Wilmette, and subsequently owned the agency until it was sold in 1961. Robert MacNamara, then President of Ford Motor, came to Wilmette to persuade her to keep the dealership. She married John C. Waxler in 1962 in Beloit, WI who died in 1995. She served on the Board of Trustees of Beloit Memorial Hospital for which she was the driving force in funding the rebuilding of the hospital. She was a member of the Textile Society of the Chicago Institute of Art and had one of her needlepoints hung in the Members Room. She moved to St. Petersburg in 1979 and was a member of Isla Del Sol Yacht & Country Club, the St. Petersburg Yacht Club, and chaired committees on the St. Anthony?s Hospital Guild. She married Richard F. Lindquist on June 3, 2004 in his penthouse condo at Bacopa Bay. She was a member of the Pass-a-Grille Beach Community Church. Her mother, Mrs. Keach, lived at the Princess Martha Hotel in St. Petersburg for several years before she died. Survivors include her husband, Richard; Step-Children: Marilyn W. Polgaze and John C. Waxler, both of Beloit, WI; Nancy A. Lindquist, Chicago, IL; and Jeffry S. Lindquist, Phoenix, AZ; a grandchild, Ian Lindquist, Seattle WA; and a niece, Mary Carol Williams, Boston, MA. A Memorial Service will be held at Pass-a-Grille Beach Community Church, 107 16th Ave., St. Pete Beach, FL at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, January 31, 2006. Burial will be at Bay Pines National Cemetery, St. Petersburg, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Friends of Strays, Inc., 2911 47th Ave. N., St. Petersburg, FL 33714.
