Joyce Becker

Joyce A. Becker of St. Petersburg, Florida was called by God to Heaven on May 30, 2015. She was surrounded by her family as the Lord reunited Joyce with her husband of 66 years, Donald H. Becker. Over 66 years, their beautiful family has grown. Joyce and Donald had 5 children: Donna Dummann, Barbara LeGrant, Nancy Pooré, Donald Becker, Jr., and Gayle Fay. Then came: 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. The family continues to grow. In July, a great grandson will arrive, and in September, a great-great grand daughter will be welcomed to the Becker Family. Joyce's family was her pride and joy. Her face would light up with a big smile whenever she spoke of her children and grand children. She was always delighted to speak of their accomplishments. She enjoyed singing "The Froggy He" to her grandchildren when they were young. Her proudest moments were when the family gathered all together. We always enjoyed dinners and breakfasts at their home where she would prepare the best pasties, goulash, creamed dried beef on toast, Waldorf salad, and blueberry pancakes. Joyce was born in Munising, Michigan. Once married, they moved to Sault Ste. Marie to raise their family where they managed The Northview Hotel. Life then moved them to Hollywood Florida and later to St. Petersburg. They owned two businesses in St. Petersburg: Open Pantry Store Franchise and Terry's Answering Service. Joyce made amazing hoagies for the whole city at Open Pantry! Throughout her life, she enjoyed many trips to Fort Desoto Park and Sawgrass Lake Park with her loving family and treasured drives through historic downtown St. Petersburg. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for family and close friends. She will be deeply missed by her family but we are comforted by thought of her reuniting with Papa and watching over us from Heaven.
