Mary Eisenhart
June 26th, 1921 - July 31st, 2006
Eisenhart, Mary M., of St. Petersburg, died Monday, July 31, 2006 at home. She was raised in Jefferson, Ohio and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1939. Youngstown Hospital put her in training for a Nursing degree and entry into the U.S. Army Nurse Corps in 1943. After basic training and being commissioned a 2nd Lt. at Camp Atterbury, Indiana, she departed with the 303rd Station Hospital contingent for service in England. She met Captain William Bill Eisenhart of Akron, Ohio, and they were married in January 1945 in a ceremony in London by the Base Chaplain from Molesworth where Bill was stationed. After WWII ended, they started their married career in Akron, where Bill had been employed prior to the start of the war. In October 1948, they began a revived military career that lasted 32 years and took them all over the United States and Europe. She was an avid golfer and won the Feather Sound Golf Club women?s championship in the mid 1980?s and was always beating her husband at the game. She was an excellent bridge player and hosted several groups at Feather Sound and the surrounding St. Petersburg area. Survivors include her husband, Col. William ?Bill? Eisenhart, Ret.; four children, Diana R. Strangio, of Palmdale, California; Linda M. Eisenhart of Clearwater; John A. Eisenhart of Las Vegas, Nevada; and Mary Jane Cooper of Lancaster, California; her brothers, Robert, Raymond and Richard; her sisters, Kathryn Norris, Vivian Maille and Betty Close; 10 grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
