Col. Marie Kehrer Ret.
September 24th, 1915 - September 15th, 2006
Kehrer, Col. Marie US Army Ret., 90, of St. Pete Beach, died Friday, September 15, 2006 at Palms of Pasadena Hospital. Born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, she came here in 1975 from Arlington, VA. She did her post graduate work at the University of Minnesota and is a graduate of the Army Command and General Staff College and the Department of Defense Management Course. Included in 30 years of military service were assignments in the Pacific Theater in military intelligence field before and during the Korean War; in Europe in logistical planning, Headquarters, U.S. Army Europe, and later as U.S.A. European staff adviser to the Commander on military women?s matters; and in the United States as Assistant Commandant of the women?s officer and enlisted technical training school, as Military Congressional liaison officer with the Army Material Command, as a staff officers on the Army General Staff in the Pentagon, and as the Deputy Director of the Women?s Army Corps. Following retirement in January 1971, Colonel Kehrer was active in raising funds, building and equipping the Women?s Army Corps Museum. She was serving on the Board of Directors of the Museum Foundation. She is survived by two brothers, Richard C. Kehrer, South Pasadena and William T. Kehrer, Bellevue, WA and a sister, Frances Ann Cowen, Delano, MN.
