Banechay Keothavy was born Banechay Sayamongkhun in Ban Lahanam, Laos on July 8, 1944. Banechay Keothavy died peacefully in her bed on June 17, 2015 at home in St. Petersburg, Florida. She married Khampha Keothavy when she was 17 years old in 1961. From that marriage they had 6 children and one stepson. The surviving children are Matt Keothavy, Kham Keothavy, Vieng Keothavy, Dewey Keothavy, Khay Morgan, and Jackie Keothavy. Her stepson's name is Nom Keothavy. She is also survived with 12 grandchildren name Chance, Dillon, Philip, Alisha, Brittany, Victoria, Sasha, Cameron, Callie, Kendall, Logan, and Jasmine. Banechay Keothavy had a passionate love for her family. She lived with her son Kham Keothavy, but made every effort possible to call and keep constant communication with all her children and grandchildren living outside of St. Petersburg. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother. She loved gardening and growing all the fruits and vegetables that she grew up with in Laos. On top of her family the other love Banechay Keothavy had was for her temple Wat Lao Buddha Phavanaram. The temple was the lifeblood for her spiritual, social, and mental well being.
