July 26th, 1913 - October 7th, 2006
Speakman, Robert ?Bob?, 93, of St. Petersburg, died Saturday, October 07, 2006 at St. Anthony?s Hospital. He came here in the early 1920?s from his native New Bedford, MA. He was a graduate of St. Petersburg High School, Class of 1935. He is a member of the St. Pete High Hall of Fame for Track and was the first winner of a State Championship award for track at St. Petersburg High School. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII and is a member of First Presybterian Church. He was a salesman for Ross Chevrolet for 25 years and was a member of the 100 Car Club. He was a member of the Over the Hill Gang and a prior member of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club. Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Eleanor M. Speakman; a son, Robert H. Speakman, Ormond Beach, FL; a grandson, Gary Speakman, Tampa, FL along with several step-grandchildren; a great granddaughter, Skye Speakman, Tampa, FL; a great grandson, Robert Hunter, Crystal River, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
