Edwin Ernest Alber
July 28th, 1930 - March 13th, 2007
Alber, Edwin E., 76, of St. Petersburg, died Tuesday March 13, 2007 at Woodside Hospice Care Facility. He was born in St. Louis, MO and came here in 1989. He retired in 1998 after working for 42 years in the defense industry. He graduated from the US Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point in 1956 with a BS degree in Marine Transportation. While serving in the Merchant Marine Academy, he served as the Editor for the Midships Yearbook, where he earned several international awards and honors for Lithographics. He held several Engineering and Management positions with various defense companies, including Aerojet General, Emerson Electric Company, and Olin Corporation. He retired from Primex Technologies in 1998 as the Director of Communications. He served with distinction on several local civic and charitable organizations. He was a founding member on the Tampa Baywatch Board of Directors, where he helped to forge community awareness and activism for the local Tampa Bay environment. He was also active in State and Local politics, serving as a consultant for various environmental concerns, including General Dynamics Corporation. He was an avid hunter and outdoor sportsman who earned the standing of Lifetime Member of Ducks Unlimited. He spent his later years traveling the country in a motor home. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Elaine ?Ricky?; 3 daughters, Kim Canada, Clearwater, Karen Wigotow, Boulder, CO, and Kris Bagniefski, Clearwater; and 5 granddaughters, Stacy, Michelle and Kelly Bagniefski all of Clearwater, and Casey and Amy Wigotow, Boulder, CO.
