Baron, Alphonse, 87, of St. Petersburg, died Thursday April 19, 2007 at The Fountains at Boca Ciega Bay. Born in Quebec, Canada, he moved here in 1980 from Flint, Michigan. He was a WWII Veteran of the Canadian Army. He was a steamfitter hydraulic engineer at General Motors in Flint, Michigan for 28 years retiring in 1980. He was a member of Selama Grotto, the Shriners of St. Petersburg, the French Canadian Club and Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Rachel Gendron of St. Petersburg, a daughter, Carole Tortora of Belleville, Michigan and 2 sons, Michael Baron of Biloxi, Mississippi and Joseph Baron of Columbia, Tennessee, a sister, Claire Baron and two brothers, Lionel and Raymond, all of Quebec, Canada.
