Townsend, Ruth Woolley, 86, of St. Petersburg, died Wednesday May 2, 2007 at Edward White Hospital. Born in Selma, AL she moved to St. Petersburg in 1925 from her native. She graduated from St. Petersburg High School in 1938. She served as office manager at the downtown McCrory?s for six years. She worked at St. Petersburg High School as secretary in the registrar?s office from 1967-1978 when she retired. She has been a member of First Baptist Church in St. Petersburg for 76 years where she taught Sunday School Classes, served as Director of Women's Missionary Union, and served on various church committees. Survivors include her two sons, Robert Townsend, Clearwater, FL and Richard Townsend, Milford, NJ, a daughter, Julia A. Tanner, Charleston, SC, a sister, Margaret Lewis, Eustis, FL, a brother, R.B. Woolley, St. Petersburg, FL, eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Anderson-McQueen Funeral & Cremation Centers ? N.E. St. Petersburg.
