Cuykendall, Eleanor Ileen, 89, of Port Charlotte, FL, and formerly of St. Petersburg, passed away on Friday, September 14, 2007 at Peace River Regional Medical Center in Port Charlotte. She was born in Cleveland, OH on May 27, 1918 to parents Charles and Viola Malafa. She graduated from Miami University, Oxford, OH, where she was a Phi Beta Kappa and a member of Chi Omega Sorority. She married Frederick C. Cuykendall on May 31, 1941. After WWII, they settled in Toledo, OH and moved to Coshocton, OH in 1950. Eleanor and her family moved to St. Petersburg, FL in 1966 from Coshocton, OH and continued working as a high school substitute teacher. She was active in AAUW, Trirosis, and Panhellenic Association. She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church in St. Petersburg, FL. Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Viola Malafa of Coshocton, OH, her brother, Edward Malafa, her husband, Frederick, in 1990, her daughter, Ann Carter of Sarasota, FL in 1998, and grandson, John Digby in 1990. Survivors include her son, Lawrence Dixie Cuykendall of Overland Park, KS, her daughter, Julie Bill Mason, Newnan, GA, 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Survivors also include her two sisters, Rose Gayle Byron Williams of Cincinnati, OH and Beverly Beach of Columbus, OH. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 19th from 10:00am until service time at 11:00am at Anderson-McQueen Funeral Home-NE St. Petersburg Chapel-2201 Dr. M L K St. N.
