Bishop, Vance D., Dr., 82, of St. Petersburg, died September 22, 2007 at home. Born in Ocoee, TN, he moved to St. Petersburg in 1953 from Memphis, TN. He was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard and also served in the Naval Reserve earning three Bronze Stars. He was local dentist and oral surgeon for many years in St. Petersburg. He was Methodist, a member of the Florida sheriff?s Association, St. Petersburg Yacht Club and the Bucketeers Yacht Club and also a benefactor of the Museum of Fine Arts. He was in the Hall of Fame for the best dressed in the City of St .Petersburg. He was preceded in death by his wife Isabel Gordo Bishop, siblings: Henry, Howard, Herschel, Grace, Hoyt and Roy. Survivors include his son Mike and Alicia Aponte, a brother: W.M. Bishop, a sister: Wanda Goddard, two grandchildren: Liscia and Marcos, and two great grandchildren. Friends may call on Monday from 6pm ? 8pm at Anderson-McQueen Funeral & Cremation Center, 2201 Dr. M L King St. N., where a funeral service will be held at 2pm on Tuesday.
