Mara, Doris, 97, of St. Petersburg, passed away on Friday, Sept. 28th at Royal Oak Nursing Home in Dade City. She was born on November 14, 1909 in Gorham, NH to Ovide and Otta Coulombe. Doris received her Bachelor?s degree from the College of New Rochelle in NY and her Master?s degree from the University of Connecticut, New Britain Branch. She worked as a teacher at Newington High School in Newington, Conn. from 1956 to 1976 before she moved with her family to Florida in 1979. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, where she was part of the Women?s Guild. She was also a member of the Connecticut Teachers Association, AARP, and the Connecticut State Society. She was preceded in death by her husband: Neal F. Mara. She is survived by her daughter: Carole A. Gagne, Zephyrhills; her two sons: Gary N. Mara, Crystal Lake, IL and Wayne R. Mara, Kensington, MD; 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
