Wallace J. Izzo
May 27th, 1918 - November 28th, 2007
Izzo, Wallace J. Ret. Lt. Col US Army, 89, passed away on Nov. 28, 2007 at St. Anthony's Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL after a lengthy illness. He was born May 27, 1918 in Brooklyn, NY. He graduated from Fordham University with a degree in Chemistry. He joined the US Army and served in the Phillipines in WWII and served during the Korean War. He was stationed in San Francisco and also worked for the San Francisco Examiner. He then was stationed at Arington Hall in Arlington, VA. He received numerous medals. He retired from the military in 1961 and worked as customer service manager at Fisher Scientific. In 1980 he moved to St. Peterburg, FL for retirement. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dorothea Marie Kelly and infant son, Robert, and brother Richard. He is survived by his son, Wallace J. Izzo and his wife Rebecca and grandson James Michael, his daughter Carol Marie Izzo Abbott and husband Michael and grandchildren, Tom, Katie and Kelly, his loving wife Hilda and her loving children and grandchildren and great grandchildren, his brother Robert and wife Joan and nephews Robert, Paul and niece Diana. A memorial service and visitation will be conducted at Anderson McQueen Funeral Home in St. Petersburg at 2:00pm Saturday Dec. 1, 2007. Burial will be at Arlington Cemetery.
