James Carl Goosen
January 31st, 1953 - December 1st, 2007
Goosen, James Carl Jim, 54, of Pinellas Park, FL, died Saturday, December 1, 2007 of lung cancer. Jim was born in Cape Town, South Africa on January 31, 1953 of Carl and Doreen Goosen and relocated to the U.S. at the age of 13. Jim and his father later started their own business manufacturing the aortic punch his father invented. More recently, Jim worked in real estate as both a landlord and mortgage broker. When not at work, he could always be found starting less often finishing an ambitious electrical, remodeling, or woodworking project. He also volunteered for many years as a Boy Scout leader. Above all, he lived for family, friends, and putting others? needs ahead of his own. A smile served as enough thanks to Jim. His contagious laugh will echo in our memories; his sayings will continue to impart wisdom; and his kindness will forever warm the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Darla, and two step-sons Daniel and Patrick Spencer, whom he loved as his own; his parents; his brothers B. Todd Goosen and Andrew Goosen; his sister Carol Darling; his son, Daniel Goosen; and his daughter, Tara Petersen, and three grandchildren. A memorial service is being held on Saturday, December 15, 2007 at 11am at St. Giles Episcopal Church, 8271 52nd Street North, Pinellas Park, by Rev. John L. Hartnett. The family suggests that any donations be made to the American Cancer Society. Anderson-McQueen Funeral Home-Tyrone Chapel 727347-6636
