Schneider, Carl Beatty, 90, of St. Petersburg, died peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, December 18th, 2007. He was born in Highland, NY and spent his boyhood years in Bailey?s Gap, NY. He came here in 1976 from Vestal, NY. He retired after 25 years of service as Manager from IBM?s Federal Systems Division in Owego, NY where he oversaw the production of the computer systems for the Saturn V and Mercury VII Rockets for the NASA Space Program. He proudly served his country in peacetime as well as during World War II, in North Africa and Italy. Locally, he was a member of St. Vincent?s Episcopal Church and the Pasadena Yacht and Country Club. Carl enjoyed fishing, golfing, traveling, and he was an avid reader of Civil War and World War II history. He especially enjoyed fishing on Cape Cod. He also enjoyed building model ships and airplanes. Carl is survived by his wife, Marguerite Millie Schneider; two daughters Carleen Wald husband Gary Wald and Mary Etta Schneider husband John Beardsley; one grandson Gerhard Wald; one step daughter Cathy Katzenstein husband Marty Katzenstein; seven step grandchildren David Wilcox, Ashlee Van Veen, Jr., Laura Wilcox, Eric Wilcox, Erica O?Brien and Joey Katzenstein, and four great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Marian Deyo Schneider. Carl was a strong and caring man, full of life and heart. His strength and guidance were an inspiration to many, and his smile, sense of humor and laugh will be remembered always. Visitation will be 4-7pm Thursday at Anderson McQueen Funeral Home & Cremation Center ? Tyrone Chapel 7820 38th Avenue North. The funeral service will be held 10am Friday at St. Vincent?s Episcopal Church 5441 9th Avenue North. Internment with military honors will follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell FL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Hospice of the Florida Sun Coast 5771 Roosevelt Blvd Clearwater 33760 or St. Vincent?s Episcopal Church.
