Alan Adkins, 78, of St. Petersburg, died Friday (March 16, 2001) at Hospice House Woodside, Pinellas Park. He came here 12 years ago from his native Norwalk, Conn. He was a retired technical writer who worked on the development of the Blackhawk helicopter. He also did work for Walsh Construction in Norwalk. He was a member of Church by the Sea, where he also was a choir member. Survivors include his wife, Lucille C.; a son, Dr. James, Palm Harbor; two daughters, Lynn Weigel, Norwalk, and Lauren Chester, Arlington, Va.; a stepdaughter, Diane Pomponi, St. Petersburg,; a stepson, Martin Stanton, Bradford, N.H.; a sister, Doris Gerstner, Hypoluxo; a brother, Roger Merrell, St. Petersburg; and 8 grandchildren. $(document).ready(function(){ });
