Dorothy Eleanor Smith Barr of St. Petersburg, Florida, died January 30, 2009 from complications following a fall on Christmas morning. She was born June 29, 1917 near Pelham, GA, the daughter of Daniel A. Smith and Mary Frances Stephens. She was second youngest of eight siblings, the others being Ruth Harvard, Dora Palmer, Lucille Lewis, Elizabeth Maples, Bertha Robertson, Frances Harris, and James Robert Smith. She lived much of her life in Jacksonville, Florida, where she was a member of First United Methodist Church. She moved to St Petersburg in 1996, where she lived actively at Westminster Shores. She had a glorious 91st birthday party at the St. Petersburg Yacht Club in 2008. She is survived by a son, Roger Coke Barr (Jean) of Chapel Hill, NC; 2 daughters, Margaret Elizabeth Barr Olsen (Jack) of Gulfport, Marsha Diane Barr Shafer (Ron) of Miami; 6 grand children, Daniel Barr and Holly Barr Pritchard, Eric Barr Olsen, Kelly Shafer McLaughlan, Megan Shafer Briggs, Mallory Shafer; and 2 great grandchildren, Nicholas Pritchard and Rachael McLaughlan. Eleanor Barr was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Coke L. Barr. Funeral Services will be Thursday, February 5, 2009 at First United Methodist Church in Jacksonville with interment following at Evergreen Cemetery. $(document).ready(function(){ });
