Forrest M. Booth
December 14th, 1926 - July 5th, 2013
Forrest M. Booth, 86, of St. Petersburg, Florida, went home to be with the Lord Friday, July 5, 2013. He moved to St. Petersburg in 1952 from his native Plant City, Florida where he was a 1944 graduate of Plant City High School. Forrest was the Co-Owner of Garrett Plumbing in Madeira Beach, Florida for 39 years. He was an avid Softball player, Bowler with two perfect games in league play, Golfer, die hard Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan, Florida Gator fan and was a member of AmBucs in Clearwater. He volunteered with Grey Jays in Dunedin, Florida and enjoyed playing Pool with friends every Friday morning. In 1987, He was named Most Valuable Player in the Senior World Softball Championships in Las Vegas, Nevada and also pitched one of the only no-hitters in slow pitch softball at Woodlawn Park in St. Petersburg. He was an Army veteran of WW II and was a member of Fifth Avenue Baptist Church for over 60 years where he served as a Deacon, an usher, and was a member of the Celebration Sunday School class. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sara C. Booth; 1 son, Gary Forrest (Allison) Booth of St. Petersburg; 1 daughter, Sandi C. (Phil) Phillips of Palm Harbor, Florida; and 5 grandchildren, Jason Booth, and Nathan, Melanie, Garrett, and Sydney Phillips. He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Valeria Booth, Marceil Newsome, Louise Newsome, Mary Jo Martin, Juanita Knight, Whitney Booth, and Doyle Booth. Visitation 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Monday, July 8, 2013 at E. Dale Gunter Funeral Home 4100-16th Street North. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at Fifth Avenue Baptist Church 4901-5th Ave. No. with Rev. Mickey Burroughs and Rev. Gene White officiating.
