Carrie Cannon, 92, of St. Petersburg, Florida, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, April 29, 2014. She was born in Sylva, NC. She was a member of the Breakfast Optimist Club and was an avid walker and gardener and loved outdoor activities especially hiking the mountains of North Carolina, the Continental Divide, and Hawaii. She worked in the shell factory in Charlotte, NC during WW II. As a young mother, Carrie worked side by side with her husband, John, owning a milk processing and bottling plant near Syracuse, New York. They produced Cottage Cheese and milk products which they delivered or sold from their store. Following the sale of that business, they moved to a poultry farm in Cazenovia, New York where the family enjoyed the joys of country living along with the hard work. The move to Florida came in the mid 1960's which became her permanent residence. Carrie taught Sunday School, volunteered for many Optimist Club events, and was a bell ringer for the Salvation Army at Christmas. She was a tag-a-long with the Second Time Arounders Marching Band on their trip to Dublin, Ireland as well as a host of local parades and events. She is survived by 1 son, John W.
