Albert J. DiNapoli
January 26th, 1920 - February 25th, 2001
Albert J. "Al" DiNapoli, 81, of St. Petersburg, Florida died Sunday, February 25, 2001 at St. Anthony's Hospital. He was born in Bronx, New York and moved to St. Petersburg in 1973 from Yonkers, New York. He was a founder of The Autism Association, Inc. in St. Petersburg in 1979 and served as the Director Of Administrative Services and was a founder of The Gulf Coast Chapter of The Autism Society Of America in 1981. Prior to moving to St. Petersburg, he was a New York City firefighter for 20 years and then designed Television commercials and industrial films at E.U.E. Screen Gems, a division of Columbia Pictures in New York City. He was an amatuer pilot and was a member of the Aircraft Owners And Pilots Association, was a championship diver, an avid skier, and was a former member of the Sunshine City Kiwanis Club in St. Petersburg. He attended George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and was an Army Air Forces veteran of WW II where he served as a Ball Gunner on the B-24 and attained the rank of Tech Sgt. He was a member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church in St. Petersburg. Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Anne B. DiNapoli, one son, David B. DiNapoli of Gainesville, FL, two daughters, Deirdre A. Whiteman of Sarasota, FL, Deborah D. Vacca of Wallkill, NY, one brother, Alfred DiNapoli of Yonkers, NY, and three granddaughters, Kerry M. Whiteman of Sarasota, FL, Nicole A. Deyo and Lisa M.
