Richard J. "Rick" Eames, Sr., 79, of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away Monday, February 6, 2012 at home. He was born in Blakely, PA and came here in 1971 from Woodbridge, VA. He was a Senior Veteran's Claims Examiner at Department of Veterans Affairs in St. Petersburg. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean and Viet Nam Wars serving for 21 years and retired as a Master Sergeant. He was a member of North East Park Baptist Church where he was ordained as a Deacon February 26, 1978, was a leader of the Royal Ambassadors, drove the van for 13 years, and served on various committees. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Phyllis A.; 3 sons, Richard J. Eames, Jr., John K. Eames both of St. Petersburg, Kenneth W. (Darlene) Eames of Prudenville, MI; 4 brothers, Robert Eames of Iberia, MO, Rolland Eames of Ocala, Kenneth Eames of Lynchburg, VA, Charles "Chick" Eames of Johnson City, NY; 3 sisters, Eleanor Babola of Johnson City, NY, Christine Korencenz of Endwell, NY, and Lois Sala of Buena Park, CA. He was predeceased by a son, David Eames. Friends may call 10:00 AM to service time at 11:00 AM Friday, February 10, 2012 at North East Park Baptist Church with Rev. Frank Robinson officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
