Clarice Knapp Foglesong,97, formerly of Pinellas Park, died Wednesday, August 18, 2004 at the Pleasant Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Point Pleasant, WV. She was born in Leon, WV and came here in 1956 from Point Pleasant and returned in 1994. She attended Mason County Schools and graduated from Point Pleasant High School in 1927.She was a 1931 graduate of Marshall College (now Marshall University) in Huntington, WV with a BA degree and later received a Master's degree in teaching at the same institution. She started teaching in a one room schoolhouse in Mason County and later taught at both Ordnance Grade School and the Point Pleasant Junior High School. She retired from the Mason County School system when she and Mr. Knapp moved to Pinellas Park, FL in 1956. She then taught in the Pinellas County Florida system before retiring from that program in the the 1960's. She was a 4-H club leader and formerly served as a Mason County, WV 4-H agent. She was also active in the Girl Scouts. She was a member of the "Crafty Ladies" with the Pleasant Valley Hospital auxiliary where she received a 5000-hour pin for volunteer service. She has also been a member of the Mason County AARP organization since 1972. On July 3, 1963 she marred Charles Foglesong at Heights EUB Church, where they were both active members. They spent the summers in West Virginia and wintered in Florida. On March 5, 2004, she celebrated her 97th birthday at the Pleasant Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where she was a resident. She is survived by one daughter, Vivian Tillis (Robert D. "Bob" Tillis Sr.) of Point Pleasant; two stepsons, Earl R. Foglesong (Joyce)of Gallipolis Ferry, WV; Howard Foglesong (Alice) of Logan, WV; one stepdaughter, Carolyn Roush of Point Pleasant; two grandsons, Robert D. "Bobby" Tillis, Jr. (Georgianna) of Point Pleasant; William D. "Bill" Tillis of Gallipolis, OH.; several step grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. $(document).ready(function(){ });
