Thomas W. "Tommy" Grigsby, 91, of St. Petersburg, Florida, died Saturday, May 16, 2009 at St. Anthony's Hospital. He was born in Raymond, Nebraska and moved to St. Petersburg in 1945 from Seward, Nebraska. He retired as an airplane mechanic at Albert Whitted Airport then St. Petersburg-Clearwater Airport after 45 years. He was a Staff Sergeant in the Army Air Corp. during WW II serving in Alaska and the Aleutian Islands. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star with American Defense Service Ribbon. He was a member of American Legion Post #14. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Myrtle Holland Grigsby; 3 daughters, Kathy Cribbs of Port St. Lucie, Candace Cole of Thomasville, GA, Marcia Grigsby Andrews of St. Petersburg; 2 sons, Thomas A. Grigsby and Ronald Grigsby both of St. Petersburg; 1 sister, Alma Sexton of Boulder, CO; 10 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Blanche and Arthur, brothers, Ted and John, and sisters, Margaret, Ruth and Inez. Friends may call 5 to 7 PM Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at the E.
