Vivian Carroll was born February 16, 1912, in a small North Florida town, Noma. She was born to Willie L. Carroll and Mittie C. Carroll. She lived and worked on the family farm in Alabama just north of Noma. This is where she met and married Horace J. Whitehead. They married September 21, 1930. They bore 5 children: Elton D., Wilton H., Milton C., Faye, and Kaye. She has been blessed with 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren; 26 are girls and 9 boys. She was happily married to Horace for 42 years until his death in 1972. In 1974 she met and then April 20 of 1974 married Charles W. Hackett to whom she has been married 32 years. They met in her brother's church in St. Petersburg. Vivian's roll was that of a loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and Great-Great Grandmother. When she wasn't playing these rolls, she was busy working and caring for others and always working in her church no matter where she went. She was a nursery/cradle roll teacher for over 20 years. She also was a pianist any place she attended. She was also known for her good home cooking: Fried Chicken, tea cakes, biscuits, corn bread, fried catfish and pound cake to name a few. She was a seamstress for her family. She was a lot of fun at any pic-nic. In her fifties she was still climbing trees and playing softball until she broke her foot running to second in soft dirt. She would rather fish any day than eat. She was a really good fisherwoman. She also loved the out doors and would love to get in the dirt and garden. As Mother got older she spent more time home than out except for going to church twice a week. She did not sit idle though, she found a way to still do something good for others. She would find time to call and check on shut-ins every single day to make sure some one checked up on those who could not get out. She and Charles made it their service to God to be prayer warriors and they would pray for at least two hours every single night for all on the church prayer list and all the friends and family and neighbors and even those they did not know. You have been prayed for. God has given her a wonderful long loving life and blessed us with her presence with great memories. We will miss you Mom. O O X X She is also survived by her sister, Evelyn C. Ellington of St. Petersburg, FL.
