Derek M. Hillier, 60, of St. Petersburg, FL, died Monday, March 31, 2003 in the emergency room at Northside Hospital and Heart Institute. He moved to St. Petersburg in 1979 from his native Swindon, Wiltshire, England and was a self employed horticulturist. He was also a coach finisher for British Railways, a therapeutic child care specialist, and with his wife was a foster parent. He enjoyed raising dogs, darts, and playing his guitar and doing magic tricks for children. He was a member of the Nurseryman's Association Of Florida and the Pinellas Foster Parents Association. He was Protestant. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sandra, two daughters, Heidi D. Burg of St. Petersburg, Dawn A. Spencer of Hawthorne,FL, one brother, Dave, two sisters, Joan Parker and Janis Fenton all of England, and two grandsons, Ryan Burg and Cade Spencer. He was predeceased by his parents, Albert H. and Hilda M. Hillier and a sister, Sheila Fitchett. $(document).ready(function(){ });
