Roy Russell Lasher, 71, of St. Petersburg, FL, died Thursday, August 3, 2006 at St. Anthony's Hospital under the care of The Hospice Of The Florida Suncoast. He was born in Painesville, OH and moved to St. Petersburg in 1978 from Fort Meade, MD where he retired from the U.S. Army as a Sgt. Major E-9 with 26 years service during the Korean and Viet Nam Wars. For 15 years, he served as a Green Beret with the Special Forces and was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, Viet Nam Service Medal, Viet Nam Campaign Medal w/60 device, Meritorious Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal w/Silver Clasp-3 loops, Master Parachute Badge, Bronze Star Medal, Viet Nam Gallantry Cross w/Palm, Combat Infantryman Badge Second Award, Air Medal, Republic Of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, Purple Heart, United Nations Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal w/1st Oak Leaf Cluster; Viet Nam Parachute Badge, Korean Service Medal, 5 O/S Bars, and the Ranger Tab. He was Methodist. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Charlotte T; one brother, Jerry Lasher of Carlsbad, CA; and one sister, Nancy Kuzas of Sarasota, FL. $(document).ready(function(){ });
