Frank Bertram Mullen
September 3rd, 1930 - June 5th, 2009
Frank Bertram Mullen, Jr., 78, of St Petersburg, Florida, died Friday, June 5, 2009, at St Anthony's Hospital. Born in Washington, DC in 1930, Frank moved his family to St Petersburg in August 1972, where he initiated and instructed in the guitar program at St Petersburg Junior College from 1973 through 2005. He also taught privately from his DC years until the time of his death. His life's passion centered on performing and teaching jazz guitar, and on mentoring the next generation of performers. He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Marie Mullen, his brother David Mullen, and his brother-in-law William Hope. He is survived by his beloved wife Donzella Carr Mullen, his daughter and son-in-law Veva and Will Scott, and his grandson James Scott, all of St Petersburg; his sister Nancy Hope of Lillian, AL; his sister and brother-in-law Margaret and David McCollough of Suffern, NY; his sister-in-law Betty Mullen of Colonial Beach, VA; seven nieces and nephews, including Terry and Bill Pace of St Petersburg; seven great nieces and nephews; and many extended family members. Friends may call 5 to 7 PM Friday, June 12, 2009 at E. Dale Gunter Funeral Home 4100-16th Street North. Graveside Services will be 1 PM Saturday at Woodlawn Memory Gardens. $(document).ready(function(){ });
