William "Bill" C. Preston
May 7th, 1924 - January 30th, 2015
William C. "Bill" Preston, Jr., 90, of St. Petersburg, Florida, went home to be with the Lord Friday, January. 30, 2015. He was born in Pittsburg, Kansas and moved to St. Petersburg in 2001 from Shell Knob, MO. He retired from the telephone company and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers Of America and the American Legion. He was an Army Air Corp veteran of WW II where he flew 54 missions as a gunner on A-20 bombers and received four Bronze Stars. He was a member of St. James United Methodist Church where he served on multiple church boards. He is survived by 2 sons, Chuck (Linda) Preston of Land O' Lakes, Mike (Jamie) Preston of Bridge City, TX; 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren; and his companion Anne Jeffcoat. He was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Billie F. Preston; a son, Rick Preston; and a brother, Bob Preston. A memorial service will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 7, 2015 at St. James United Methodist Church 845 - 87th Avenue North with Pastor Rebecca Lehman officiating. Interment will be at Bay Pines National Cemetery.
