Eleanor S. Riel, 86, of Palm Harbor and formerly of St. Petersburg and Seminole, went to be with her Lord Sunday, March 6, 2011 at Westchester Gardens in Clearwater. She was born in Mingo Junction, OH and moved to Florida in 1964 from Canton, OH. She was a 1949 graduate of Asbury University with a BS Degree in Education, a 1965 graduate of Kent State University with a Master's Degree in Education and taught school in OH, NY, and FL retiring from Azalea Middle School in St. Petersburg. She was a member of Phi Delta Kappa, Upper Pinellas Retired Educators Association, Florida Retired Educators Association and was a volunteer in chaplain's office at Bayfront Medical Center and a volunteer at the Billy Graham Training Center At The Cove in Asheville, NC for 16 years. She was a member of East Lake United Methodist Church Palm Harbor. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Robert E. Riel, former administrator in the Pinellas County School System; 2 daughters, Ruth Ellen Riel, Marilyn J. Riel both of Palm Harbor; 2 sons, David R.(Debby) Riel of Wilmore, KY, Howard E. Riel of St. Petersburg; 1 sister, Clara Mae George of Lexington, KY; sister-in-law, Caroline A. Word of Los Angeles, CA; 2 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. Friends may call Friday 5 to 7 P.M. Friday, March 11, 2011 at E. Dale Gunter Funeral Home 4100-16th St. No. Funeral Services will be 11 AM Saturday, March 12, 2011 at East Lake United Methodist Church 2801 East Lake Road Palm Harbor, with Rev. Donald E. Logue and Rev. Bob Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park in Clearwater. The family requests memorials to: The Gideons International P.O.
