Monte Ray Schneider, 55, of St. Petersburg, FL, died Tuesday, May 12, 2009 of an accidental drowning at St. Pete Beach. Monte moved to St. Petersburg in 1962 from his native Johnstown, PA, moved to Tallahassee, FL in 1974, and returned in 1995. He was a 1972 graduate of Northeast High School, a 1974 graduate of St. Petersburg Jr. College, and a 1991 graduate of Florida State University with a Master Of Fine Arts degree. He was a self employed artist and ceramist. After an injury, he had to give up his profession and worked as a Security Guard at Goodwill Industries. He is survived by his parents, W. Zane and Jean A. Schneider of St. Petersburg. A memorial service will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, May 21, 2009 at St. Luke's United Methodist Church 4444-5th Ave. No. in St. Petersburg.
