Rudolph "Rudy" L. Sinks
November 21st, 1928 - August 20th, 2011
Rev. Rudolph L. "Rudy" Sinks, 82, of St. Petersburg, Florida, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, August 20, 2011. He moved to St. Petersburg as a child from his native Anderson, IN and was a 1946 graduate of St. Petersburg High School. He was a graduate of Baptist Bible Institute in Graceville, FL and served as the Pastor at First Baptist Church of Charlotte Harbor, FL and former Assistant Pastor of Northside Baptist Church in St. Petersburg. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. Rudy was a member of Fifth Avenue Baptist Church. Many people would remember him as "Axelrod The Clown" at Sunshine Speedway in the 60's. He is survived by his daughters, Janice "Jan" L. Sinks and Cheryl L. Sinks both of St. Petersburg; 1 brother, Douglas Sinks of Crystal River, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Clara M. Sinks. Visitation 5:00 - 8:00 PM Friday, August. 26, 2011 at E. Dale Gunter Funeral Home 4100-16th Street North. Funeral Services will be 11 AM Saturday, August 27, 2011 at Fifth Avenue Baptist Church 4901-5th Avenue North with Rev. Gene White and Dr. Harry Mills officiating.
