Billie Jean Grubbs Wilson
June 11th, 1935 - March 8th, 2008
Billie Jean Grubbs-Wilson, 72, of St. Petersburg, FL, died Saturday, March 8th, 2008 at St. Petersburg General Hospital. The daughter of George L. Grubbs and Helen E. Grubbs, she was born in Ashville, FL in 1935. She moved to Tallahassee, FL as a child. She attended school at Fla. High School and was a graduate of Leon High School, Tallahassee, FL. B.J. loved to sing and was involved in the music program at Leon High and FSU, and sang at her church and local radio station. She was employed by GTE/Verizon in Tallahassee, St. Petersburg, and Tampa, FL as a Traffic and Conference call operator and retired after 35 years. In her retirement years she was involved in Florida Orange Crop production and considered herself and independent business woman with many varied interests. Billie Jean is survived by a daughter, Jan E. Wilson-Retz of St. Petersburg, FL; six sisters, Pearlie Ann Davis, Mary Helen Ranew, Emma Jewell Steele, Johnnie Hodges all of Tallahassee, FL, Lillie May Mock, of Crescent City, FL, and Kitty Wiley, of Miami, FL; one brother, Larry Grubbs of Tallahassee, FL; two granddaughters, Shannon E. Retz-Johnson of Anaheim, CA, and Victoria M. Retz of Tallahassee, FL, and one great-granddaughter: Sydney Rose Johnson of Anaheim, CA. She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Jack R. Wilson and son, Scott R. Wilson, both of St. Petersburg, FL. Memorial donations may be made to, American Cancer Society, 4801 86th Avenue North, Pinellas Park, FL 33782.
