Harry Parker Hope
January 24th, 1910 - April 3rd, 2008
Hope, Harry Parker 98, of St. Petersburg, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2008, at The Allegro at College Harbor. Born in Sumter, SC, he moved to St. Petersburg in 1927. He graduated from the Benedictine High School at St. Leo, Florida. He served in the Army Air Corps in the Pacific from 1942 - 1945. From 1946 -1971, he was employed by the Veterans Administration locally. He was a member of the Sunset and Vinoy golf clubs and was a founding member of the County Golf Association. He shot his age for the first time when he was 69 and continued to play until reaching the age of 90. He was a devoted husband, father, and uncle and will be missed by all. He is survived by his wife, Helen; son, Richard Hope, nephews, Richard Whitner, Bill Whitner, and John Gray; and nieces, Sally Whitner, Sally Bostick, Margaret and husband, Bill Cochrane, and Mary Smoak. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Florida Suncoast or All Children's Hospital.
